Gential Piercings and Female Piercings Article

Female Body Article

I don't have any genital piercings, so this heading is a bit sensational, but here are the things I know about various ways to pierce a vagina. For more expert and involved info, check out BME(thanks zillah), or go talk to your friendly neighbourhood piercer.

I don't know anything about any kind of cultural or ritualistic female genital piercings. All I know are the piercings you can get at tattoo parlors. This info is very subject to processing in the rumour mill, so please consult an actual informed person if you are genuinely interested in genital piercings.

There are quite a number of ways/places in which the vulvo-vaginal unit can be pierced, of which I am familiar with these: horizontally across the clitoral hood, vertically through the clitoral hood, through either labia minora, through either labia majora. I know there are more ways. I wonder if anybody gets labia on both sides pierced and strings them together.

Clitoral piercings heighten stimulation for awhile and then, supposedly, gradually deaden nerve endings in the clitoris. This is comparable to nipple piercings. It apparently hurts more to get pierced horizontally than vertically, I think because the jewellery goes through more flesh, and possibly makes two holes (one on either side) instead of only one.

I don't know if there is a post-piercing no-sex period involved with any of these. I would suspect there is for a week or two, maybe more. A friend of mine was looking into piercings for his penis and his main deterrent was the 6 month no-sex period that he was informed would be necessary afterwards (this sounds extreme, but maybe it was because he was looking into deep tissue piercing, not the regular surface piercings). I've heard both ways about piercings and condoms: that the jewelry can tear the latex, and that it is no problem.

Genital piercings are some of the hardest to keep infection-free, because they are always moist and usually covered closely. On the other hand, most people wash their genitals quite frequently anyway, and as has been pointed out to me, those parts of the body have excellent blood supplies and heal quickly (similar to mouths).

For a while I wanted to get some kind of genital piercing. I had first wanted to pierce a nipple, but didn't like the asymmetry of one possibly permanently erect nipple, and didn't want to pierce both. I also had concerns about breast feeding with scars from piercings. So, I flirted with genital piercing, but decided not to because of my aversion to having a numb clitoris, and because I don't think a pierced labium would look very foxy with my furriness. That is me personally; pierced women have written me that they like the jewelry and fur together, and I can see the foxiness in that too.
