For the last year or so, Ive been noticing a stronger vaginal odor especially during sex. Its  nothing that you get disgusted by, but it is noticable (for me anyways). Ive always been on top of my check ups and papsmears so I'm sure if it was something serious it would of showed up , right? I've also gained some weight in the past year and was wondering if that had ANYTHING to so with it.

Dear Jenifer,

About your concern with the vaginal odor you speak of, well first off you say you have noticed a change in the past year and you are up on all your exams and checkups. The thought that first comes to mind is your diet. You did speak of also gaining weight during the same time period in which you noticed a change. Certain foods can effect the way we smell and the odor of our vaginas, so this could very easily be the problem... although you shouldn't exactly rule out other possibilities, such as a yeast infection. Yeast infections can come and go and never be detected by a physician. I would first try and change my eating habits and if the problem continues or worsens at my next appointment, I would let the Dr. know.. I hope this will help you... Good luck and be safe, Nurse Sue
